Facebook Releases 'Stories' with Mixed Reviews

Facebook now has stories!

Just over a week ago Facebook released it's story feature with mixed reviews from users and critics, many taking to social to point out that Facebook has 'cloned' snapchat just like it's other platform's Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp.

Stories allows its 2 billion+ users to upload disappearing pictures and videos within it's mobile app. Stories will occupy prime real estate sitting at the top of the application above the main feed. Much like Instagram, Facebook stories allow's users to select special effects, add location specific filters and then share to their network

It's been reported that since launching Instagram stories there has been a decline in the number of users on snapchat hence, the new release of Facebook stories to further move users away from the competitor application.

We've had a play on the feature here at Double Tap Agency only to be left relatively underwhelmed. Other than the promotion of the new Minions movie the filters were relatively basic, and we definitely didn't feel the need to delete our snapchat accounts to be converted to Facebook's new stories!

Now, we wait to see what new features Facebook stories will release. Let's hope its something a little more original! Something we haven't seen before!
