What is offsite SEO?

It's time to tackle the question 'what is offsite SEO'!

In our last post we went through everything you need to know about onsite SEO we are now going to touch on offsite SEO.

So what is offsite SEO?

Put simply it’s any link off your website that links to your website. Onsite optimisation is not enough to be recognised by a search engine. Every site needs offsite links pointing to them to assist with ranking for certain keywords that your competitor will also be looking to rank for.

So, where do you get these offsite links from. Three key sources are:

  1. Blogs

  2. Social media

  3. Affiliate sites

Now that you have identified the key offsite sources what do you need to consider before working with any offsite website. You must determine the following points as google will be taking note of these:

  • The trustworthiness of the linking page.

  • The popularity of the linking page.

  • The relevancy of the content

  • The anchor text used

  • The number of links to the same page

  • The number of root domains that link to the page.

  • The amount of variations that are used as anchor text.

  • The relationship between the source and target domains.

So there you have it!
