what to do when engaging an agency

The beauty of my discovery calls is that I get to chat with so many people at different stages in business. This over the years has not only helped me to craft the perfect services for the different stages of business but also to craft the perfect pre-chat questionnaire.

We have a question that is “what do you need help with” one of the most answered questions is “i don’t know, I just know I need help!”. So to combat this i have outlined below all the things you should consider before chatting with an agency & then what services would best suit your needs.

Things to first consider:

  • What is your budget? I recommend that 7-12% of your total revenue should be allocated to marketing. Work out what that value is

  • if you have a restricted budget, how much time are you willing to allocate to your marketing a week? My recommendation is that 10-20% of your working hours a week need to go to marketing.

  • if needing to put in marketing hours yourself, what of the marketing tasks are you most comfortable executing yourself & what is best handed to an expert?

  • would it be best for my business if I upskill in marketing or have an expert guide me til I’m ready & able to hand the reins over?

  • will I give my marketing the love it deserves 10-20% of your time? or am I best allocating my complete budget to an expert to get the job done?

Now based on the above, you have a baseline for what you might need assistance with, how much you can spend, the time you are willing to give

Based on your answers here’s a guide:

  1. I have a restricted budget but willing to put in the hours. CONSULTING OR TRAINING is for you.

  2. I have restricted time & a smaller sized budget. BASIC MANAGEMENT targeting only specific areas of your marketing for the most impact (off the back of strategy sessions) + you’ll need to give a little of your time. Is for you!

  3. I have a decent budget & no time to give to my marketing + I have a junior I could use to execute. STRATEGIC CONSULTING & UPSKILLING is for you!

  4. I have a decent budget & no time to give to my marketing + no team to hand it to. FULL MANAGEMENT is for you!

Now know what you need?
