CLIENT LOVE // WiSE EMERGENCY CLINIC

THE FIRST OF IT'S KIND!

What better way to kick off our first Client Love by talking to one of our longest standing clients WiSE Emergency Clinic! Situated in Macquarie Park, Sydney, WiSE Emergency Clinic offers Walk-in, emergency specialist care, providing immediate treatment for non-life threatening medical needs. Manned by a team of experienced specialists in a range of areas including radiology, ophthalmology, gynaecology, pathology, dental, acute specialist care and more WiSE offers quick and professional diagnosis, treatment and referrals for patients.

We chatted to WiSE Business Manager Kate Robertson about her role at WiSE and their decision to use social media as a marketing tool.

Tell us a little about yourself, family, work, passions.
My name is Kate Robertson. I am the business manager of the Walk-in Specialist Emergency Clinic. Amongst other things I have a background in Emergency Nursing.
I believe in living a life that is unrivalled in beauty, spirituality, virtue and respect.

What was the trigger that sent you on the mission to open WiSE the first emergency clinic of its kind in Australia?
I saw a hospital system that was under growing pressure, with a demand on labor and resources. I saw a consumer unable to navigate the complexities of the healthcare system. A consumer that was falling between the gaps that currently exist in healthcare.

Walk me through the step-by-step process that you went through to get to where you are today. What was the first thing you did?
WiSE Specialist Emergency Clinic offers immediate medical care when an accident or emergency requires more than a GP visit, but is considered non-life threatening or unlikely to require admission to hospital. Open 10-am-10pm, 7 days a week, WiSE developed a stand alone facility that offers a one stop shop for a persons medicare care. Under one roof WiSE offers Specialist Emergency care, Radiology, Pathology and follow up acute Specialist Clinics. Allowing our physicians to provide timely, seamless assessment, diagnosis and treatment.

What’s a day in the life of an emergency doctor at WiSE look like?
Engaging and communicating with each discipline, Administration, Nursing, Radiology, Pathology, Dental. Greeting patients at the door and providing comprehensive, seamless patient centred emergency care.

Who is your target patient?
Time poor professionals who are prepared to afford private health care and value patient experience time more than free care

Without giving too much away tell us a little about your marketing strategy?
Increased brand awareness - increased visibility, multiple platforms. However, it comes down to the patient experience. Clinical excellence, robust policies and procedures and improved patient experience (communication)

Why did you choose social media as a platform for engaging with your potential patient?
Targeted access to consumers with data that is easy to convert

What is your approach to engaging with your online market?

  1. Targeted to key audiences

  2. Education on services provided

  3. Increasing website traffic

  4. Raising brand awareness

  5. Creating a brand identity and positive brand association

  6. Improving communication and interaction with key audiences

Tell us a little about the pros and cons of social media marketing for WiSE
Cons - healthcare is not typically aesthetically pleasing. There is a not an instant desire, want or need for our service. Others also include:

  1. Confidentiality restrictions

  2. Violation of professional boundaries

Pros- consumers investigating their own health more - increased online searches, google researches. Analysis of the healthcare market with access to reviews and ratings

What would you have done differently if you knew then what you know now?

  1. Developed a more robust marketing strategy before engaging marketing tools

  2. Developed our website before launching social media etc

If a kid walked up to asking for your advice and you only had a few minutes to give ‘em your best tip, what would it be?
“the unexamined life is not worth living” Socrates

What’s next for WiSE?
Innovation in technology

We'd like to say a massive thank you to Kate for taking the time to talk to us! If you or a family member are in need of urgent medical care WiSE is open 10am - 10pm, 7 Days a week with no appointment needed
