6 Types Of Photos & Videos Every Business Needs

Not sure exactly what photos you need for your business - here’s THE list!

From your website to your socials we’ve got you covered.

DETAILED PRODUCT SHOTS FOR YOUR WEBSITE

People want to be able to see in detail exactly what it is they are buying, this includes taking photos from various angles, capturing different details, and providing a really good indication of the product they will be receiving.

People take in information differently, however, while you might be really great at articulating exactly what something looks like or how it works some people just won’t be able to truly understand until they see a visual reference.

Professional, high quality and clear photos on a website help products sell, these are a must-have.

CAMPAIGN / LIFESTYLE - SHOT ON A MODEL, INSITU

What does the item look like when it’s being worn, or when it’s styled in a home? How do I style those boots?

Not only do these lifestyle shots help people to visualize and understand what they will look like, the fit, the style, the scale, or the size, they also help people develop emotion towards the purchase.

If someone can really imagine themselves in that scenario or wearing that item or having that in their home it helps to move them through the buyer journey and closer to sale.

FLATLAYS

Great for socials and for content - flat lays allow you to style your items with different backgrounds and props allowing you to create a bunch of different images suitable for social media.

Flatlays along with Lifestyle shots are also a really great way to invite collaboration into your business by getting other brands involved, you can also send your items to others to be included in their photoshoots.

USER-GENERATED CONTENT (UGC)

People love to see how other customers (or influencers) have used, worn, styled, benefited from your product.

User-Generated Content is shot and supplied by your customer, it is organic content that you have not paid for.

Again, this helps other potential customers to see your product in motion or out in the wild and helps to drive that ‘I want that’ feeling.

UGC also provides amazing social proof and acts as a recommendation or referral for your product or brand.

Encourage more UGC by sharing your customer’s images across your social media channels and interacting and engaging with their content.

STOP MOTION

Stop motion kind of feels like a video or GIF, however, it’s actually a bunch of images taken moments apart, clipped together to play like a video.

These can be a lot of fun to create, however can also be quite time-consuming.

They add another element of interest and some different content into your media mix - you’d really only use these for social media.

BRAND

Lets go behind the scenes and into the brand, depending on your business you might not need a whole lot of these, however they can be really great to show the office, your shop, your factory/warehouse, your process or how things are made.

Brand images are great for telling your story, to share a bit more who you are and why you do what you do.

People often buy into brands through storytelling, this is really important also if you’re a newer and relatively unknown brand, people are looking for another way to connect with you.

VIDEO

Instagram Reels are a great place to start, look for trends or what other people have created and adapt for your business as a starting point - there are heaps of great audio tracks to show product now.

If you don’t love creating videos look for ways to make this easier for yourself - could you run a competition asking customers to create products with what they have purchased from you? Could you pay a content creator to make some short form video for you.

You don’t need a lot, but it should be sprinkled throughout your weekly content.
